The “Trainer Training” Program Has Begun

News - 14 April 2026 Tue

The “Train the Trainer” program, designed to enhance the pedagogical competencies of our academic staff and contribute to lifelong learning processes, has begun at our university. Designed for faculty members at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Özdemir Bayraktar Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, and our Technical Sciences and Kavak Vocational Schools, the program will run for 5 weeks and include a comprehensive training process totaling 28 hours. The goal is to support academic knowledge with a strong pedagogical foundation.

The primary objective of the program is to move faculty members beyond the role of mere knowledge transmitters and guide them toward the roles of “cognitive guides” and “design coaches” who mentor students’ learning processes and design educational environments. In this regard, the program aims to strengthen the pedagogical training of academics, particularly those working in the fields of engineering and basic sciences. Within this framework, the educational process will prioritize student-centered approaches, active learning methods, and the effective use of digital tools. The program is being conducted by a broad team of instructors composed of experts in their fields. The training sessions feature: Prof. Dr. Adem Soruç, Prof. Dr. Cumhur Türk, Prof. Dr. Kasım Kıroğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kemal Yöntem, Prof. Dr. Zafer Cömert, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muammer Türkoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merve Ergüney, Dr. Sevcan Ekmekçioğlu, and Dr. Musa Aydın will serve as instructors.

The training program covers topics ranging from fundamental concepts related to the education and teaching process to the learning characteristics of Generation Z and Alpha students, educational psychology, Bloom’s taxonomy, active learning strategies, and adult learning theories. Additionally, the program offers practical content in areas such as design thinking, academic communication skills, effective presentation techniques, and communication processes. The program also delves into assessment and evaluation processes, question-design techniques, and performance evaluation tools in detail, while sharing AI-supported assessment and evaluation applications and the integration of current technologies into educational processes with participants. Hybrid learning models, flipped classroom applications, and the effective use of learning management systems are also among the program’s key topics. Throughout the training process, participants’ attendance is monitored, and faculty members who successfully complete the program will be awarded a “Trainer Training Certificate.”

Faculty members and instructors from our department—Dr. Alper Talha Karadeniz, Dr. Ayşe Berika Varol Malkoçoğlu, Dr. Kazım Kılıç, and Research Assistant Deniz Bora Küçük—have joined the program as participants.
